Participation in trade fair ALIMENTARIA 2010 (Barcelona)

On the occasion of the fair ALIMENTARIA 2010 next week, the CTNS will participate in the following activities:
- Monday 22 March, from 10 am to 3 pm, Pavilion 3, Room 3.11, we participate in the V Encuentro de Innovación y Tecnología "Innovación en tiempos de crisis", organized by FIAB/CDTI/AECID. + info.
- Monday 22 March, from 3 to 6 pm, in the International Pavilion, Street A, stand 190, we will have an available meeting space at the stand of TECNIO. + info.
- Tuesday, 23 March from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm in Conference Room 4 Module CC4-International Business Area, Dr. Puiggròs will present the experience of success in FP7: European project BIOCLAIMS, within the session "Funding International R & D Projects" organized by ACC1Ó-EEN-FIAB-CDTI. + info.
- Tuesday 23 March 2.30 to 6.30 pm and Wednesday, March 24 from 10 am to 2 pm, in the International Pavilion, the CTNS hold 30-minutes meetings with each of the companies which have asked for in the Alimentaria Brokerage Event organized by ACC1Ó - EEN. + info.
In addition, the CTNS presents its technology offer in the Catalog of FITEC (Hall 2 - Stand C460), and participates in INNOVAL 2010 together with Tecnoparc and SFF.
Innovative Business Association of Nutrition and Health

The Technological Centre of Nutrition and Health (CTNS) together with the University Rovira i Virgili and Tecnoparc, jointly with 18 Catalan and Spanish companies from the food industry have created this Thursday March 18th an Innovative Business Association (AEI), with the aim of improving the competitiveness of member companies through shared strategies that generate flows of knowledge and collaborative innovation projects.

The CTNS was invited to participate in the workshop "Beyond PASSCLAIM - Guidance to Substantiate Health Claims on Foods", organized by ILSI-Europe from 14 to 16 December 2009. The purpose of the workshop was to reach a consensus on the proposed guidelines for substanciació of health claims on food.
The CTNS, member of the European Nutrigenomics Organisation (NuGO)

CTNS will become a member of the European Nutrigenomics Organisation linking genomics, nutrition and health research (NuGO), as agreed in the last meeting held in Amsterdam on 12th Nov 2009. NuGO is a Network of Excellence, its primary aim is integration, making European nutrigenomics research easier. Twenty-three partner organisations from ten European countries form the core of NuGO. CTNS Conference on Nutritional Intervention studies

On Thursday, 1 October 2009, the Technology Center of Nutrition and Health (CTNS) organized the conference "Quality criteria and standards in nutrition intervention studies in humans", which have attended over 30 technical and R&D managers of several Catalan and Spanish agribusiness companies. During the conference, some experiences on the optimal design of nutritional intervention studies in humans were discussed. These studies are key in the dossier about nutrition/health claim that is subject to approval by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in the new regulation of functional foods (Reg. Prof. Arola (CEO of CTNS) will chair the Catalan Council of Research and Innovation

The Government of Catalonia has approved the creation of the Catalan Council of Research and Innovation, a pioneer institution in Spain, which will advise the government on innovation and research, and will monitor the Catalan Agreement for Research and Innovation signed in October 2008.
This Council, that was constituted last 22nd September and held its first working meeting, was set up to advise the Government on strategies, policies, planning and evaluation of the research and innovation system in Catalonia.
Members of the Catalan Research and Innovation Council, which comprises a maximum of fifteen members are: Carlos Alejaldre; Pilar Almagro, Lluís Arola, who will be the chairman; Henry Chesbrough; Ana Izquierdo, Josep Lagares; Guillem López-Casasnovas; Ramon Marimon, Antonio Massanell, Leena Peltonen; Sybille Reichert, Maria Reig, Joan Rodés and Luc Soete.
InterACC1Ó Reus-Tarragona 30th September

Wednesday 30th September from 12am to 3pm InterACC1Ó conference was held in Reus.
During the conference there was a "debate of contrast" between Mr. Andrew Pintaluba, Pintaluba Group CEO, and Mr. Barriach Joaquin, CEO of La Morella Nuts, respectively president and member of the Board of CTNS.

The CTNS at the TECNIO Forum - 21st July 2009

Last July 21st, the CTNS introduced the technology "Functional genomics applied to nutrition" on the TECNIO Forum organized by ACC1Ó. You can download the presentation used in the session (PDF, in Catalan, 640Kb) clicking here.
Next June 17-18, 2009, the CTNS will be exhibiting at NutrEvent in Lille

NutrEvent is one of the most important European conferences dealing with research into innovative ingredients and functional food.
Last May 11-15, 2009, the CTNS was an exhibitor at the Tecnoalimentaria Fair (BTA).

BTA, Barcelona Food Technologies, is one of the most important European fairs on food technology. More specifically, the CTNS was presented in Ingretecno, a part of the BTA that provides technological solutions for ingredients, additives and functional foods.
