The CTNS develops research activities and scientific and technological services across the value chain that makes up the design process, development, validation and placing on the market of a functional food that, inherently, is associated with a healthy nutritional profile.
The CTNS participates in BIOCLAIMS (BIOmarkers of Robustness of Metabolic Homeostasis for Nutrigenomics-derived Health CLAIMS Made on Food), a Collaborative - Large-scale integrating research project funded by the European Commission through its Seventh Framework Programme
The CTNS is part of networks of knowledge transfer, research and innovation:
Before the intervention studies are carried out, the CTNS searches for scientific evidence to validate the biological efficacy of the functional food and its bioactive compounds.
Human intervention studies are indispensable if a functional food is to be validated. These studies are the last step in the confirmation of the data and scientific conclusions generated by the previous preintervention studies.
